South End is a thriving cultured atmosphere perfect for Design Within Reach and its iconic, modern furnishings. We adapted this space to complement the retailer’s brand. The entire east facing side of the building was opened to accommodate a wall of full-length windows giving DWR’s wares proper visibility. We also prepared the building for a long life by installing an entire new roof. The location of the building offered unique challenges given its proximity to the Charlotte Rail Trail as well as the city’s light rail service, LYNX, but in the end, the finished space proved to be a perfect open, light and airy compliment to DWR.
