JENI’S SPLENDID ICE CREAMS | DURHAM, NC

A non-descript mid-century brick building found on West Main Street in Durham, has been transformed by August Construction Solutions into an outpost of the beloved Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.

ACS managed every step of the construction process including pre-tenant work with developer Asana Partners. The artisan ice cream shop is part of the developer’s Brightleaf Square revitalization underway in this historic area of Bull City. Primarily known for tobacco warehouses in the early 20th century, this neighborhood is now a thriving destination for a unique roster of retailers and restaurants.

The Brightleaf Square scoop shop is about 2,000 square feet with an additional 1,500 square feet of seating on the generous outside patio. We made extensive updates to the aging structure to prepare it for its renovation. These updates included removing and replacing the entire roof and rebuilding the entire front elevation. The interior work follows the same bright, clean, retro/modern atmosphere that the other Jeni’s shops have established. Accordingly, custom millwork and ornate tilework are found throughout the space. From lighted marquee signage to pops of bright hues against a bright white backdrop, the shop has been crafted to make eating the sweet treat extra fun and nostalgic.

The new scoop shop is getting tons of local attention and press too.
