Adjacent to the elevated tracks on the corner of Peace and West streets, this building was home to Lighting Inc. for over 65 years. When this Raleigh favorite decided to relocate, we were brought in by the new owners to reinvigorate this well-worn, well-known building. We modernized the exterior of the building and used design elements and materials to visually connect it to the interior. Carved into smaller work and showroom areas to work for its previous iteration, we opened up the space to inspire collaboration and to create a flexible workspace meeting modern business needs. Now the space is one of abundant light, bright accents of orange steel beams and staircases, and living walls to warm-up the high-gloss atmosphere. It is open, inviting, and modern—and just like its surrounding neighborhood, a perfect bridge from the past to present in this resurging neighborhood.
